Hypoallergenic lanolin is truly a remarkable material and has been scientifically
proven to be one of the best moisturisers known to man. Hypoallergenic lanolin demonstrates
excellent compatibility with the natural lipids already present in the skin and
has been clinically proven as absolutely safe, even for use in wound healing processes.
Approved for medical use, hypoallergenic lanolin provides long-lasting emolliency,
coupled with prolonged moisturisation benefits and, as such, is a very effective
barrier repair system, which quickly and effectively addresses the problems associated
with dry, dehydrated and even cracked lips.

Beeswax
|
|
Beeswax effectively absorbs into the upper layers of the skin, where it acts a nutrient
to help prevent dryness, roughness, dehydration and cracking. With an unparalleled
record of safety in use, beeswax leaves the delicate skin in the lip area feeling
soft, smooth and moisturised after use.

Shea Butter
|
|
Shea butter is highly nutritious to the skin, where it rapidly absorbs, improving
the texture, tone and feel of the delicate skin around the lip area. Shea butter

and cracking of the lips, even in dry, cold climates.

Cocoa Butter

Cocoa butter possesses remarkable rejuvenating and conditioning benefits to the

Vitamin E
|

Vitamin E is a natural antioxidant, which protects the skin against the harmful
effects of unwanted free radicals. It also increases the moisturisation of the skin,
improves surface relief and protects the skin against sun damage. Vitamin E possesses
anti-inflammatory properties, making it an excellent choice to assist in the reduction
of redness, soreness and other superficial skin irritations.

CARNAUBA and CANDELILLA WAX, which are used to strengthen the formulation. Both
these waxes are of natural origin and compliment the non-synthetic formulation of
the original LIPSANO™ formulation.

The moisturising ingredients in LIPSANO™ are trapped on the
lips surface, below the layer of sunscreens, in order to maximise their moisturising
activity.

Q. Many lip care products on the market leave the lips looking
greasy after use. Is this true for LIPSANO™ ?
|
|
A. When LIPSANO™ was specially
developed as a complete lip care system, one of the objectives was to ensure that
the lips did not appear or feel excessively greasy, after the product was applied.
On application, LIPSANO™ absorbs rapidly into the lips, leaving
a matte, rather than greasy, looking appearance.

Ethylhexyl
Methoxycinnamate
|
|
Ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate is one of the safest and most widely used UVB sunscreens
in the world, effectively protecting the skin against the harmful effects of the
sun’s UVB rays. Unchecked, UVB rays can cause reddening, burning and peeling of
the skin and, in severe cases, can even be the cause of some skin cancers. Ethylhexyl
methoxycinnamate is a PABA-free sunscreen, that effectively protects the skin against
these harmful UVB rays, converting them into harmless energy forms, which cause
no damage to the delicate skin in the lip area.

Benzophenone-3
|
|
After ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate, Benzophenone-3 is one of the most commonly used
UVB sunscreens in skin care products today. PABA-free, benzophenone-3 works in synergy
with ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate, to provide maximum protection from the sun’s harmful
UVB rays. These two ingredients, when combined in a specific ratio, are primarily
responsible for LIPSANO’s excellent SPF rating of 30+, high enough to put it into
the “very high” protection category, in almost all parts of the world. Benzophenone-3
also has the added advantage of providing some protection against the sun’s UVA
rays, where it acts in synergy with butyl methoxydibenzoylmethane.

Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane
|
|
Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane is the third element in LIPSANO’s unique sun protection
system. This sunscreen, with years of proven safety behind it, is the most effective
and widely used UVA protector in the world. UVA radiation, often referred to as
the “silent killer”, is present all year round, even when the sun is not shining.
The long term effects of UVA rays are much more serious than those of UVB, causing
premature skin ageing, loss of elasticity, hyperpigmentation (brown spots), premature
wrinkling, dehydration and, most seriously of all, some deadly skin cancers, which
can kill within months, if unchecked. Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane is an effective
UVA sunscreen, which provides the delicate skin around the lip area with the protection
that it so badly needs, from harmful, and sometimes deadly, UVA rays.

Q. LIPSANO™ is claimed to be PABA-free.
What does this mean and why is it so important for Lipsano Lip Care?
|
|
A. The acronym “PABA” stands for “para-amino benzoic acid” and
it is used to describe a group of sunscreens that primarily provide protection against
the harmful UVB rays emitted by the sun. Whilst PABA-derived sunscreens are permitted
for use in skin care products, a lot of bad press over recent years has suggested
that they may be harmful when used on the skin, over prolonged periods of time.
In the interests of maintaining the highest degree of product safety and efficacy,

Camphor
|
|
Camphor is a naturally occurring product extracted from the wood of the camphor
tree, Cinnamomum camphora. Camphor has been used for centuries for it’s
beneficial properties on the skin, where it exhibits a detoxifying and purifying
effect on the skin. Camphor is well known for its ability to help reduce the likelihood
of infection and other superficial skin disorders.

Menthol
|
|
Menthol is incorporated into LIPSANO™ for its classic benefit
of being able to provide a cooling effect on the skin. Immediately after application
to the lips, a pleasant cooling, tingling sensation is experienced, which dramatically
improves the comfort of the skin.

Salicylic Acid
|
|
Salicylic acid is well known for its ability to act as an antimicrobial, helping
to prevent the onset of infection and other superficial skin imperfections, associated
with unpleasant germs. Gentle in nature, salicylic acid helps to reduce the likelihood
of skin blemishes and other skin problems, which can result in more serious skin
disorders, which may require medical intervention.

Aroma (Flavour)
|
|
The flavour used in LIPSANO™ has been specially chosen to
be noticeable, whilst not producing an overpowering taste on the lips. This specially
chosen flavour, subtly vanilla in character, enhances the in-use experience when
using LIPSANO™, providing a pleasant and holistic sensation,
when the product is applied to the lips.

Saccharin
|
|
Saccharin is an extremely safe, sugar-free sweetening agent and is included in LIPSANO™
at a very low level, to enhance the in-use experience of using the product.

Q. Some lip care products contain phenol, which is said to be effective
in fighting the symptoms of infection. Why is there no phenol in LIPSANO™
?
|
|
A. Whilst phenol is used to help prevent infections, it can also
be harmful and irritating to the skin, if used at excessive concentrations for prolonged
period of time. When LIPSANO™ was developed, one of the objectives
was to make the product as safe as possible for all people of all ages – hence the
decision not to include phenol in the product.

Q. How often should I apply LIPSANO™ to
my lips, for best results?
|
|
A. It really depends upon the condition of your lips and the climate
in which you are living. If your lips are already dry, dehydrated and cracked, then
the best results will be obtained by applying LIPSANO™ every 2-3 hours. If
your lips are in a healthy condition, then 2-3 applications per day should ensure
that they stay that way. Remember to apply LIPSANO™ more frequently in cold
weather, sunny conditions, or when the air is dry, as all of these factors can be
very damaging to lip health.

Q. Why is LIPSANO™ in a tub and not the conventional stick
applicator?
|
|
A. There are a number of reasons, but most importantly:
- By applying LIPSANO™ to your lips with your finger you ensure thorough coverage
of the lip area
- A more even “cover” is achieved by applying LIPSANO™ with your finger
